But at first, before I introduce our guests, I want to talk briefly about how I am
personally related to this topic. As a normal 18-year-old university student, I like to record my life by using the technology of taking photos of every moment that is essential to me. I like taking selfie when I hanging out with friends. It is so common that more and more people would like to taking selfie instead of other ways to show their lives in the 21st century today. The homemade tool also help taking selfie much
more easier and cover the area of age group widely. In daily life, traveling,
studying...it seems could be make in any time and any places to record life. It goes
through the dynamic of social media to share life and joy of delivery your current
status and mood from the selfie. However, I come for notice from writer Sherry Turkle of how technology harm to people. Is it selfie has gradually become the leaders of our life on socializing? Once people get together is just for selfie not for what they really want to communicate with each. I start to explore more from selfieand make the point of selfie is not the part which should take up the most on
people’s relationship. We need the communication to use our language to express
our thinking rather than behind our mood from the shot.

So, today, em...I invite you guys to share your experience the selfie. Let’s talk
about more about how the selfie used in our lives
Tan
It is interesting—
Monica
Do you think that the selfie has impact on our lives? I found that more and more
people are will like to take a selfie with their friends for posting on Instagram or
Facebook rather than really communicate
Tan
To myself, more exactly, my friends when they have time which is hard to get
together they would like to take selfies at first and share on the Internet for no reasons.
Even some of them did not want to do that
Nick
I agree. People sometimes totally forget the aim of how they get together
Lily
Well, I don’t think that people will forget...It is kind of like a new way to
communicate with each others. Like the facial mood on the picture,
you can see what you look like when you in a party or the other occasions
Monica
What does you mean by the new way to communicate?
Lily
What I mean is my friends and I enjoying to take selfie in the moment that we want
to do so. It is nice to share the different selfie to share our lives

Loll, I see. It is more simple for girls getting together for taking a selfie like to
treat for their long time make-up for prepare for the party
Nick
Actually, men will never take selfie that frequently I think
Lily
Are you kidding? I think you are really into taking selfie just now!
Monica:
Wait guys, so there comes a question. Is it selfie taking different meaning to
men and women?
Tan
Of Course! Men will not taking that long time to take a selfie as women. I found
lots of my female friends will spend the time on photographing to adjust their face like to
make their face more skinny, to modify their chin and eyes.
Monica
It is true. We just want to look more adorable on the picture!
Nick
I could agree that selfie is the better way to keep something but not exactly for
using to express the real feelings
Lily
What I mean is that, taking a selfie will make me have a delighted mood.
Sometimes, as girls, we take a selfie is not showing to the others, just want to ingratiate
with ourselves

From Lily and Tan as the different side of males and females. They have hold that
woman are more like to treat the selfie more serious on whether they will look good
on it. Tan told me that he wonder why girls like selfie much more than man. I
think it is easy to understand. Girls usually make-up for them to look good in a
party. Therefore, it is necessary to use the way of selfie to record their today’s
looking. A kind of recording habit which the selling point of many mobile phone
manufacturers also starts from the photo function. To respond to people's demand
for selfies and increase product sales, so as to achieve commercial purposes. With
the cultivation of the market and the stimulation of people's own demand, selfie
products are more suitable for use. We can often see all kinds of selfie sharing on
social media. Merchants use celebrities' selfies to promote their products, while
stars show themselves by sharing selfies to gain more attention and topics. Even
politicians around the world like to let people know themselves by taking selfies.
The famous one is obviously the pre-president of United States——Obama.
Clip 3: Lily&Tan&Nick
Nick
Now I understand the why a girl will has so many selfie posted on their social
media
Monica
I totally agree with you! What time does it make you guys want to take a selfie?
Tan
I am not sure...but lots of time there is a psychological motivations for people to
take a selfie
Lily
What I think is Everyone needs attention. A child deliberately does something out
of the ordinary to impress an adult. In order to attract the attention of the opposite sex and
students, the middle school students will wear strange clothes. The young men and
women in the courtship stage will deliberately dress themselves to attract the attention of
the males. In old age, parents try to make their children pay attention to their petulance.
People post selfies online with the aim of attracting attention.

Lily has shared the interesting point of people taking selfie. She has pointed out that
people want to get the attention from their selfie which much more related to the
social media. I understand that some people sometimes satisfied themselves
VT6: Monica
To get the attention is so normal that we utilize the social media. And selfie is really
easy to present for it. But is it all just for getting attention to share for lives?
Someone may not think like this.
SFX:

Clip 4: Lily&Nick
Nick
Well, I think some people do this not only for sharing. More negatively, they want
to show off for what their lives
Monica
Could you explain what does the “show off” mean?
Nick
Like there will be a group of people to show their luxury lives like take a selfie
with their expensive bags, or watch or earrings...some think like this
Lily
I reckon that people who show off by taking selfies may show a lack of inner
security, confidence, or vulnerability.
SFX:

VT7: Monica
I see that. Nick has pointed out that the truth of some people are more on a negative
side to use the selfie like showing off their wealth. I am not a sensitive person to
notice on some of the people’s selfie for wether they want to show off or not. But it is
really true that they make some bad effect to influence people when seeing their
selfie and have to compare unrealistically.Well...let’s see what the others think
about inproper selfie impact lives
SFX:

Monica
I could not agree more. Do you guys think that taking a selfie with others is the
best way to make friends? Like selfie socializing?
Lily
I think it is. Only people wants to make friends with me, they will like to take a
selfie with me .
Tan
I don’t think this is the best way...
Nick
Taking a selfie could not prove that you have exactly make friends with him or her
properly.
Tan
I think Nick wants to express we could not know that the inside mood for a person
behind a selfie
Monica
So you think we cannot just take what we see in the selfie to justify the
relationship?
Nick
Exactly
SFX:

VT8: Monica
Okay...there’s a conflict that among Lily, Tan and Nick. Lily thinks that people
wants to make friends by taking selfie. But Tan and Nick think there’s behind mood
after the shot. People are changeable for their mood everyday. I do agree with more
about Tan and Nick that we could not just justify for a relationship by a selfie.
When we want to set up for a relationship, it is better to talk more and share
interests. And I also respect for what Lily thinks that not complex about
interpersonal relationship. Take it easy and let nature takes it course maybe is the
best choice!

Monica
Do you still think selfie has become the important part leading on the socializing
in our lives?
Tan
It just take up the younger people’s life I think. Elder people will not that much
willing to choose to take a selfie.
Lily
I think it is if you post your selfies to social media, your friends can see you and see
what you've been doing.
Monica
It is kind of like set up a bridge to the people to people who have not contact for
a long time.
Nick
In general, those who post selfies are good-looking girls or boys. They hope to
record their current appearance by posting selfies and recording them on the Internet. In
the near future, they will be able to view photos of themselves and review their status at
that time through the Internet. Generally, such people are those who understand life and
love it. They know how to record beauty and love themselves
Tan
I don’t think just for the good-looking people...the others who are confident will
also keep doing that just for their interests maybe.

I see, uh, by the way , you mention by the occasion, what do you think that
there’s the proper occasion to take a selfie?
Tan
Yeah, to talk about this, I want to mention that my uncle’s funeral. My young niece
is surprisedly to go so far as to take a selfie of herself on the funeral and post it on the
Instagram.
Monica
What? Is there no one to shut her down?
Lily
That sounds ridiculous. The girls’ parents should teach her what is the respect
Nick
I even see some of people did not consider of the occasions for taking selfie like in
the hospital, some landscape that has not developed...and so on
Tan
I cannot imagine why selfie addiction has become a global phenomenon. People
taking selfies at funerals, outside excursive, and even after a plane crash
Nick
That’s crazy
Monica
Some people should be taught to identify what is proper what is not

How time flies! I could not imagine that we had talked about this much on how the
selfie impact on our lives. What’s more, people are more likely to reckon that to not
let the selfie become main parts of our lives especially on making friends with each
others or getting together.A lot of people have also got into the habit of taking selfies
under the influence of the selfie trend and like to post their selfies on social media.
To them, a selfie doesn't mean anything, and it doesn't say anything about the inner
workings of the heart. It's just their habit to post a selfie, and that's it.We just want
to look good on the selfie which post on the social media to indicate that we are well.
But what exactly the mood is will be easy to ignore. This sounds a little bit sad about
using selfie to pretend the time when you do need power to protect you!
